Alicia Boler-Davis, previously a member of Amazon’s senior leadership team, will become CEO at Alto Pharmacy in September.

Boler Davis spent 24 years at General Motors and in 2019 joined Amazon, where she led several e-commerce teams including Worldwide Fulfillment, Global Customer Service, and Global Robotics.

Founded in 2015, Alto is a full-service pharmacy that offers same-day prescription delivery. The company raised a $200 million Series E round led by SoftBank in January.

Boler-Davis will replace co-CEOs Jamie Karraker and Matt Gamache-Asselin.

“I have seen first-hand that lack of access to prescriptions and medical non-compliance can cause health to deteriorate, especially in elderly or immunocompromised people,” she said in a statement.

Boler-Davis was seen as a potential successor to Amazon’s former top consumer executive Dave Clark, who resigned June 3.

Amazon announced on June 21 that Doug Herrington, a veteran of its consumer business, will be promoted to the new role of CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, following Clark’s departure.

Boler-Davis was the only Black executive among Amazon’s senior leadership group. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy addressed her departure in an internal memo earlier this month.
